12 June Viana to Navarette

Today is like most days but probably more leisurely. Heart starting coffee and then a quick (hopefully) trip to Logrono. Our Australian friend Rose had a fall in the mud on our first inclement day. One tough lady, we were convinced it is broken but until today she hasn't been able to seek medical attention. So she and her partner will go to the hospital in Lograno and we will meet for coffee after. Sadly that is where we will leave them.
The walk from Logrono to Navarette is really tough. Because of our lovely leisurely morning by the time we leave Logrono it is midday and seriously hot. One sign said it was 34c. 12 km in unrelenting sun, no shade and nothing really to look at. Head down, bum up just to get the kilometres under our belt. On arrival in Navarette  I think we set record time to have that first beer.
Staying in another georgeous albergue, up in the attic but unfortunately on the 3rd floor. I'm sure the steps are longer and steeper in the afternoon. Wandering around town: beautiful, clean, mostly restored. The church seemed humongous for a small town, absolutely gorgeous inside ( coming from an atheist)
Fabulous dinner of  beautiful tapas washed down with yet another few bottles of great Wine. We will lose another couple of Australian friends, Lizzie and cheryl tomorrow, they walked  with us to Navarette but the plan was to always walk back to Logrono to catch a train and go home. Will miss all of you!

Great night
