Just when we thought it couldn't rain heavier, it did and couldn't get colder it did. Some of our fellow pilgrims decided to turn back top puenta la Reina
. I must admit it crossed my mind too but really that just didn't seem the right thing to do. It was a day of mud rivers, we learnt how to embrace the mud and our boots will never be the same. A day of lost walking poles down flooded rivers but still we continued.
Of course there were hills but made made all the more fun with torrential rain coming down towards us. We had a break and lunch in a lovely little town called Lorca, we did not see the rain again. Thank you Pat.
The plan for the evening was a town called Estella. From the moment we walked through the gates we felt it was a tough and angry place. Not a good vibe. Loads of graffiti and unhappy people. We stayed in an albergue that we paid through donation. Funny place, loads and loads of bunks in one room. A true fire hazard. Not a bad sleep, lights on at 6am and woke to the aroma of scrambled eggs.
Couldn't get out of town fast enough.....
Looks miserable with all that mud.
