17 June agės - Burgos

The night was spent in Agės, luckily! We ran into an American couple who had booked 3 beds in an albergue, but had stopped a street short. We took those beds, later others had to walk to next town, Atapuerca, some 2-3 km further. It was a hot day and night.

Today we walked through Atapuerca, quite a famous place because of the archicological cave digs where some of the first evidence of human habitation in Europe exists. Then up the slope as the clouds began to envelope us.

The walk down was not unpleasant as we had the destination in sight, but as we entered the outskirts of Burgos the economic downturn was evident. Quite a slow walk it felt into the old part of town, accentuated by the rain which began.

Eventually made it to the municipal e albergue. 4 floors and 150 beds. What  a surprise, modern renovated place with 8 bed bays- each with own light and power socket!
Opened the window in our dorm to find we were right behind the 12th century cathedral Burgos is famous for.
